The N1 north is closed between Botha Avenue and the R21 Flying Saucer intersection following a petrol tanker fire.
It is alleged that a petrol tanker overturned and burst into flames.
Videos shared on social media show that the burning tanker truck lying across all the lanes on the northbound carriageway.
On the southbound carriageway, vehicles can still be seen passing but the situation can change at any time hence motorists should avoid the area.
The N1 North between Botha Avenue and the R21 flying saucer intersection will be closed until further notice tonight for mop up operations once the fire has been extinguished.
