The N2 south has been closed to traffic after KwaMashu offramp following a Cash-in-transit robbery just before the Nandi drive offramp.
ALS Paramedics reported that they received calls of CIT robbery in progress on the N2 around 19h30.
“Immediately Paramedics made their way and met with SAPS. Once safe medics entered the scene which was cornered off by SAPS,” said ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.
He added that they found a cash in transit vehicle well alight.
“The cash-in-transit guards only sustained minor injuries,” he added.
The entire N2 South Bound was closed due to the incident.
At this stage the events leading up to the robbery and explosion are not known however SAPS and all necessary authorities are on scene and will be investigating further.
