Transnet strike

Operations came to a halt at Durban Container Terminal (DCT) Pier 2 on Thursday morning as several Transnet employees embarked on s demonstration.

Both inbound and outbund trucks were affected by the work stoppage which lasted about three hours.

Transnet Port Terminals DCT General Manager Commercial and Planning, Michelle Van Buren Schele, told stakeholders that receiving of trucks and waterside operations were impacted.

“TPT management are working closely with all parties involved. A memorandum of grievances from the employees was received by terminal management,” she said.

“Subsequently, all employees have returned to work. As at 09h30 all terminal operations have recommenced. Transnet management and security will remain active in monitoring the situation,” added Van Buren Schele.

She said that Pier 2 terminal will continue to send out regular communication on the situation.
