The N2 between Qonce and East London was closed to traffic following a multi-vehicle pile-up involving 13 vehicles on Wednesday afternoon.
A total of two trucks and eleven light motor vehicles were involved in the crash which occurred in misty conditions.
Video footage of a minibus taxi crashing into other vehicles on the scene has surfaced on social media.
In the 15-seconds video filmed by one of the victims of the crash, he shows the crash scene with several vehicles all over the road. When he turns the camera to where traffic is approaching, a Toyota Quantum minibus taxi appears at high speed and fails to stop in time before crashing into another vehicle.

Paramedics reported that eight people were injured in the accident. The injured were transported to Cecilia Makhiwane Hospital eMdantsane.
