Hijacked truck recovered on the N1 allegedly heading for Zim border

Private security company Mighty Tactical Reaction Service (MTRS) and the SAPS have recovered a truck and trailers that were stolen in a hijacking in Pretoria on the 7th of February 2023.

The truck driver, his Scania truck towing side tipper interlink trailers and the load went missing on Tuesday following the hijacking.

A BOLO for the missing truck and driver was sent out on various social media platforms.

Just before sunset on Wednesday, MTRS received information that the hijacked truck was spotted on the N1 in Polokwane towards the Zim border.

“Various tracking units and other officials had tried to stop the truck but had no success,” wrote MTRS.

“Our tracking team was activated as the vehicle entered Polokwane and we were on the road, in no time we caught up with the hijackers, managed to stop the vehicle and detain the suspects,” said MTRS.

SA Trucker contacted the owners of the truck but they could not reveal much about the case saying the case is at a very delicate stage of investigation. It’s not known if the driver has been found and whether or not he was involved in the crime.

The company thanked everyone who had shared the BOLO on social media to help find the hijacked truck.
