Shocking video footage has emerged online showing a harrowing scene on the N1 highway in Cape Town.
In the 3-minute 21-second clip, a minibus taxi can be seen careening wildly through traffic, narrowly avoiding collisions with multiple vehicles before ultimately crashing into a truck.
The video, which has since gone viral on social media platforms, captures the reckless manoeuvring of the minibus taxi as it weaves in and out of lanes, seemingly without regard for other motorists’ safety.
At several points during the footage, the minibus taxi comes dangerously close to causing accidents, narrowly missing other vehicles by mere inches.
While it’s strongly suspected that the driver of the minibus taxi may have been intoxicated, this could not be immediately confirmed.
However, the erratic driving displayed in the video certainly suggests a total lack of control over the vehicle.
The situation escalates further when the minibus taxi abruptly shifts lanes to the left, cutting off an articulated truck in the process.
The truck driver, taken by surprise, couldn’t do anything to avoid a collision and the minibus taxi crashed into the truck and careened off the road and into an embankment.
Following the collision, unconfirmed reports suggest that the occupants of the minibus taxi confronted the truck driver, accusing him of causing the accident.
