Ambulance Rear-Ends Truck, Claiming Two Lives on N3 near Cedara

On Friday morning, a devastating collision between an ambulance and a truck on the N3 Southbound route towards Pietermaritzburg left two individuals dead.

The ambulance, en route to Grey’s Hospital with cancer patients, rear-ended a slow-moving truck between Cedara and Hilton.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were swiftly dispatched following reports of the accident, with Midlands EMS Crews and the rescue division rushing to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found the ambulance extensively damaged, with several patients in critical condition.

One individual was trapped inside the vehicle, necessitating urgent advanced life support treatment and ventilation on-site.

Despite the efforts of medical personnel, two individuals succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The remaining patients received immediate medical attention before being transported to various hospitals for further care.

Authorities were on-site to manage the aftermath of the tragic incident.

Meanwhile, the scene has been cleared, and all lanes on the affected route have been reopened, allowing traffic to resume its flow.
