Truckers, motorists warned of blue light hijackers on N12, R28, R559 and N14

Fake policemen using a blue light vehicle managed to stop a truck driver on the N1 in Ventersburg and held him up before stealing 6 tyres from his vehicle on Thursday morning.

“The 36 year old truck driver was travelling in his truck in the N1 road 10 km from Ventersburg towards Kroonstad on the 27 July 2023 at about 04:45 when the robbers pounced,” said police spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng.

He said that a white Nissan NP 200 with unknown registration number with a blue light stopped the truck.

“One African male approached him and asked for his driver’s license and that he must alight the truck,” added Thakeng.

“A second African male person was standing next to the truck with a hand gun.

“They forced the truck driver back into the truck and tied him up at gun point.”

The suspects went on to remove 6 Dunlop tyres from the truck and fled the scene.

After a while, the truck driver managed to untie himself and stopped a passerby who took him to Ventersburg Police Station to report the incident.

A case of Armed robbery was registered .
