Handcuffed Fraud Suspect Dies After Jumping in Front of Truck, Incident Caught on Camera

A fraud suspect allegedly committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a moving truck moments after being apprehended by members of the SAPS on Friday afternoon.

The Sedibeng Ster identified the suspect as Johan Muller.

He had been under police surveillance for some time due to outstanding warrants and various fraud cases.

Muller had been residing in the Barrage area of Vanderbijlpark.

However, he fled after learning that the SAPS was closing in on him.

He left everything behind at his home on the smallholding and sought a new hideout.

A private company’s camera system spotted his vehicle on the R42 on Friday, January 12, and alerted the police.

Members of the SAPS’s K9 unit assisted in apprehending Muller around 14:50 on the R42, near the Potchefstroom exit (R553).

Moller was reportedly occupied with his phone when he was stopped.

He remained calm and did not resist arrest, according to the information received.

After being handcuffed, he unexpectedly broke free and deliberately jumped in front of an oncoming truck.

The incident was captured by a security vehicle’s dashboard camera.

Muller was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dramatic scene left members of the SAPS and bystanders in shock, as Muller fatally threw himself in front of the moving truck.
