The M7 in Durban was closed between the Bellville I/C and the N2 I/C following a fatal crash involving a truck and a car on Wednesday morning.

It’s alleged that while authorities were busy attending to a crash scene, a truck came and crashed into other vehicles killing one person.

“We responded to an accident scene on the Durban-bound M7 involving a truck and car. While on the scene, a secondary accident, also involving a truck and a Durban Metro Police vehicle occurred,” said Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

“A total of three people have been treated on scene for injuries ranging from moderate to serious and have been transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, a police official that was struck by the truck has passed away due to the severity of her injuries. The M7 has been closed in both direction, we advise motorists to avoid this area and find alternative routes,” said Jamieson.

“As one can see and from the weather and the warnings we are expecting level 5 rainfall today. ALS Paramedics have attended multiple scenes with the common areas the M7 between Pinetown and the Bluff, the M19 towards Reservoir Hills, the M13 towards Field’s Hill and the M4 south towards Edwin Swales Drive.”
