In a devastating incident on Monday morning, June 26, 2023, two individuals tragically lost their lives in a head-on collision involving two trucks at the Zinkwazi turn off on the N2 in Kwazulu Natal.
Upon immediate response to the crash, IPSS Medical found the trucks blocking the KZN highway.
Three people were severely entrapped in the wrecks.
According to IPSS Medical, two individuals succumbed to their injuries, while three others were left in critical condition as a result of the accident.
The skilled teams from KDM Fire Department and Rural Metro Fire successfully extricated the trapped victims, including the truck drivers.

Due to the grave nature of the truck driver’s injuries, he was airlifted to the hospital, while the other two patients were transported via ambulance to the nearest medical facility.
As a consequence, the N2 has been temporarily closed, and traffic is being redirected via the Zinkwazi bridge.
The cause of the crash is not known at this stage, however, authorities are attending the scene to investigate further.
Motorists are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution when approaching the area.
