Intercape Bus Trapped in Flash Floods After Driver Ignores Road Closure Signs on R30

86 passengers were safely rescued from an Intercape bus trapped in a body of water caused by flash floods on R30 between Allanridge and Bothaville in the Free State on Saturday morning.

Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng said in a statement they were experiencing heavy rains in the province.

He said the bus driver ignored road signs that clearly indicated that the road was closed due to flooding.

Thakeng said members of the police dive unit were activated and they managed to rescue the passengers.

He said no injuries were reported.
