On Friday afternoon just after 4pm EMER-G-MED’s RV7, M05 and A08 responded to reports of a multi-vehicle rollover on the N14 North near Jean Avenue in Pretoria.
On arrival paramedics found that two vehicles had collided, causing both vehicles to roll.
One driver was entrapped within the wreckage and was in a very critical condition – sustaining serious head and chest injuries. Paramedics worked to stabilise the man, whilst the City of Tshwane fire department used the “jaws of life” to cut him free from the wreckage.
The critically injured man was then intubated and placed on life support before being rushed to a specialist Level 1 Trauma facility for further management.
Two other patients sustained minor to moderate injuries, and were also transported to a nearby hospital.
The exact cause of the collision is unknown. SAPS and TMPD were on-scene to investigate.
