South African Truck Seized at Mozambican Border with 82 Ethiopian Immigrants

A South African-registered truck has been impounded by Mozambican police. The vehicle, intercepted at the Machipanda border post with Zimbabwe, was found transporting 82 illegal immigrants of Ethiopian nationality on Tuesday afternoon.

The Mozambican police reported that the truck attempted to cross into Zimbabwe when it was apprehended.

A significant twist in the incident involved the arrest of a Mozambican police officer, who is suspected of aiding the truck driver in this trafficking operation.

Adding to the drama, the truck driver managed a daring escape, fleeing the scene and leaving behind both the truck and the immigrants.

Investigations suggest that the immigrants were en route to South Africa, the intended destination of the truck.
