Yet another truck driver has allegedly been kidnapped on Mananga Road in Komatipoort near the Lebombo border post.
According to a voicenote from the missing driver’s colleague, the kidnapping happened in the early hours of Friday morning.
The kidnapping report comes after police rescued another truck driver who was kidnapped in the same area before Christmas last year.
The kidnapping syndicates are believed to be operating from the nearby mountains.
They pounce on unsuspecting truck drivers as they follow the queue to the border or when they park for a nap.
Truck drivers have been urged to avoid to sleep on Mananga road at night to avoid falling victim to the syndicate.
SA Trucker tried to contact the trucking company whose driver is reported missing but did not get a response.
The kidnappers have allegedly demanded a ransom of R200 000, however this could not be confirmed.
Pictures of the victim’s truck taken at the scene of the kidnapping show broken glasses on both sides of the truck.
