In a devastating turn of events, a 47-year-old man was killed after being crushed by his truck on Phaphama Avenue in Newton B, Inanda on Friday evening.
The truck, which had provided the man with a livelihood for him and his family, became the instrument of its destruction in a devastating manner.
According to Pram Balram of RUSA, members of RUSA attended the scene at 20:21 on Friday night to find the truck driver trapped under the rear wheels of his truck, a Mercedes Benz cement mixer.
There was nothing paramedics could do to save the man.
Witnesses stated that the man was standing behind the truck, which was parked on a steep driveway.
He was in the process of offloading ready mix concrete when the truck started to roll.

He allegedly tried to stop the truck but fell and was crushed by the rear tires.
The vehicle came to a stop on top of him after it struck a house.
He was declared deceased at the scene.
