Truck set alight others looted as violent protests erupt on N3, Vosloorus

Truckers have been urged to avoid the N3 freeway from Leondale to Vosloorus after violent protests erupted leading to one truck being burnt and others being looted on Monday night.

SA Trucker received reports of the N3 blockade due to the violent protest at 19h55 and immediately alerted truckers using the busy national route.

Unfortunately, some trucks were caught up in the violence. One car carrier truck was burnt and some looted.

One truck tried to avoid the chaos by going on the R103 but the community stopped the truck and looted it, FleetWatch reported.

It could not be immediately confirmed what the protest was about but social media reports suggested it was a service delivery protest by disgruntled community members.

Truckers are advised to make use of alternative routes and completely avoid the area or delay their trips if possible.
