Peter Muguti N3 Closed Following Fiery Crash between Lynnfield Park and Umlaas Road

We have learnt with great sadness that the driver of the tanker that caught fire in a collision on the N3 at Ashburton on Thursday morning has died.

The trucker, whose name SA Trucker cannot reveal at the moment as some relatives haven’t been informed yet, succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Friday evening.

He sustained very serious burn injuries when his tanker collided with another truck and caught fire.

He was transporting paraffin at the time of the crash.

Both his vehicles were completely destroyed in the inferno.

The crash caused massive traffic delays on both carriageways of the N3 from Ashburton for the greater part of the day.

A close relative told this reporter that the trucker’s condition deteriorated during the day leading to his passing on Friday evening.

SA Trucker will share more details of the funeral when they become available.
