Two people have been in a severe head-on collision between a truck and a taxi on the R614 near the Isinembe turnoff leaving to seven others injured.
The accident occurred just before 3 pm today, casting a somber shadow over the community.
The victims, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s who were passengers in the taxi, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident. The South African Police Service is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the factors leading up to this tragic incident.
Remarkably, the driver of the truck involved in the collision was reported to be uninjured.

Samantha Meyrick, a spokesperson for IPSS Medical Rescue, described the scene as chaotic with mass casualties. “Seven occupants of the taxi sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical,” Meyrick reported. The KwaDukuza Fire Department was actively involved in the rescue operation, working tirelessly to free the trapped patients.
In a heartwarming display of compassion and community spirit, Sharon Buckle, a nurse who was passing by the accident scene, stopped to offer her assistance. She was the first to provide care to the injured, a gesture that has been deeply appreciated by both paramedics and the community at large.
