Two school children have died after the minibus taxi they were travelling in was involved in an accident with another taxi and an articulated truck on the N4 near Witbank.
The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) confirmed that two learners were killed early this morning, 09 March 2023, in the crash which between Vosman and Emalahleni on the N4.
“It is alleged that one of the mini-busses may have stopped or slowed down on the road while the truck was already too close. The truck subsequently hit the taxi on the rear, and the taxi then went to collide into the rear of the minibus that was in front. All vehicles were travelling in the same direction,” said DCSSL Spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi.

The injured passengers have been transported to nearby health facilities for further medical attention. Investigations are underway.
