Two people have been killed in a horrific crash involving two articulated trucks on Memel Road between Newcastle and Memel on Wednesday morning, 31 August 2022.
According to a source at the scene of the crash, the crash was caused by one of the trucks which attempted to overtake another truck in front of an oncoming vehicle.
KwaZulu Private Ambulance responded to the scene where they found one patient sustained minor injuries, while another sustained serious injuries.
KwaZulu Private Ambulance spokesperson Craig Botha said that paramedics treated both patients on the scene, before being transported to hospital for further treatment.

However, Botha further noted, “Sadly, two occupants had sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to their injuries before emergency services arrived.”
