A man was killed after an unattended truck rolled and crashed into a wall killing a man who was sleeping on the other side of the wall on Watford Road in Umbilo, Durban on Friday morning.
The driver left the International truck unattended, parked on the sloping road, as he reportedly went to report his arrival at a nearby warehouse where he was supposed to offload.
Unattended and unsecured, the truck rolled down the road and collided with the wall.
ALS Paramedics arrived to find the truck crashed into the wall and a man lying trapped in the rubble.

After several tense minutes of pulling and tugging, they finally managed to extricate the man from the rubble. But it was too late. Despite their best efforts, he showed no signs of life. The paramedics were forced to declare him dead at the scene.
Unofficial reports from people at the scene suggested that the driver forgot to engage the handbrake before leaving the truck, however, this could not be immediately confirmed.
