Watch: Heart wrenching moment Kairo Forbes hugs inconsolable Nadia Nakai at Dad AKA's memorial

Kairo Forbes’ display of compassion towards the inconsolable Nadia Nakai at her father AKA’s memorial has touched the hearts of many South Africans.

As the Newzroom camera focussed on Nakai who could not stop her tears from falling, a teary Kairo walks over to her comforting her with a tight embrace.

South Africans were left crushed at the sad scene of Kairo as she gathered strength to console both Nadia and her mother.

The memorial service of slain rapper AKA, real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was held today at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. In attendance were Mzansi’s musicians, actors, politicians and other dignitaries like Oskido, DJ Tira and NaakMusiQ.

Today was the first time the public saw AKA’s baby Kairo Forbes since his tragic, gruesome cold-blood murder on 10 February in Durban. Little Kairo walked in with her mother, DJ Zinhle.

Kairo was visibly heartbroken and devastated by her dad’s death despite being just seven years old. A picture of her with tears streaming down her pink cheeks has left South Africans on social media wailing in pain.

As she sat through, hearing everyone speak glowingly of their memories of her father, AKA, she was breathing heavily, and her mom had to pat her to calm her down.

Kwaito legend Kabelo Mabalane, who was AKA’s spiritual mentor, reflected on how AKA found God in the last few years, especially after the death of Anele “Nellie” Tembe. In the end, he prayed.

During a musical interlude, Nadia Nakai broke down uncontrollably. At that painful, heart-rending moment, Kairo got up, walked seven seats, and comforted her step-mom Nadia Nakai with a cute hug.
