With violent crimes making headlines daily in South Africa, it’s no surprise that citizens, old and young arm themselves and prepare for the worst, like an old Klerksdorp man captured in the video below.
In a video, which has gone viral online, the old man is seen surrounded by four suspects trying to rob him on O.R. Tambo Street in Klerksdorp.
With his knife in hand, the man fights them off as they try to gain access to his vehicle. In the vehicle, his family watches helplessly as the madala puts up a good fight which he wins at the end.

At one time, he tries to open his vehicle door presumably to speed off but one of the suspects quickly shuts the door in his face.
The good news is that the madala successfully fended off the attackers as they retreated after his resistance.
