The N2 highway outside Piet Retief towards Ermelo faced a tumultuous morning today as a three-truck collision forced authorities to shut down the road at the Iswepe turnoff.
The accident, which occurred early Tuesday, involved a tautliner and followed by two side-tipper trucks.
Eyewitnesses reported that the chaos ensued when the tautliner collided with one side-tipper, prompting a chain reaction as the second side-tipper veered off the road in an attempt to avoid the collision.
Emergency services are currently on route to the scene to evaluate the situation. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
