A number of trucks were destroyed by fire at two trucking depots in Jaco Place off Edwin Swales Drive in Rossburgh, Durban on Friday afternoon.

Contrary to what was reported in the initial report, it has been confirmed that the fire started from Twins Trucking premises before it quickly spread to Sunwheel Carriers.

The cause of the fire is still subject of police investigations.

“Due to strong winds in the area, the fire spread onto our premises,” Sunwheel Carriers’ Melisha Peters told SA Trucker.

“One of the trucks belonging to Sunwheel Carriers CC which was parked parallel to the boundary wall between the yards was damaged beyond repair. A trailer and a shipping container were also extensively damaged,” added Peters.

She said, her father who was present during the incident, called the police and the fire brigade.
