13 People injured in a two-taxi collision on the Kassier Road bridge, Hillcrest HILCREST

13 people have been injured this morning following a two-taxi collision on the Kassier Road bridge, over the N3 highway, in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal.

ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene and found both taxis in the left-hand lane of the road. Several passengers from the taxis were found walking around on the scene.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found that a woman and man both lay trapped in one of the taxis.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that all 13 had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately, no serious or fatal injuries were reported on the scene.

Fire services utilised specialised rescue equipment t to free both patients from the taxi.

Once freed, paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to various hospitals, including St Mary’s and RK Khan Hospital.

It is believed one of the taxis failed to stop at the stop street, colliding into the side of the other vehicle.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
