Durban – A section of the N3 freeway will be closed for about three hours on Sunday to allow Eskom to replace power cables in the vicinity of the Petronet Substation near Tweedie and the Midmar Pump Station in the Midlands.
The N3 Toll Concession says the the closure will be enforced between 8am and 11am — and will affect traffic between Hilton and Mooi River.
All lanes heading to Johannesburg (northbound) and Durban (southbound) will be off-limits for the duration of the work.
The Road Traffic Inspectorate will stack heavy vehicles on either side of the road, while light motor vehicles will be diverted onto the R-103.
Motorists heading towards Johannesburg will be taken off the N3 at Midmar, while those travelling towards Durban will be diverted at Nottingham Road / Mount West.
The concession is urging motorists who will be travelling on the busy freeway on Sunday to plan their routes in advance and expect delays and traffic disruptions.
Both RTI and N3TC officials will be on standby to provide further details.
