A woman was killed and two others were left injured this morning when a truck crashed into a cyclist and two pedestrians at the Blackwood and Ring Road intersection in Three Rivers in Vereeniging.
At approximately, 08h25, ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find a heavy-loaded truck parked on the side of the road. Three women were found lying on the sidewalk a short distance away.
Paramedics immediately assessed the woman and found that one of the pedestrians, a woman in her 40s, had sustained several injuries and showed no signs of life.
Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the woman and she was declared dead on the scene.
Two other women, one in her 50s and the other in her 30s, were assessed and found to have sustained serious injuries and minor injuries. The patients were treated for their injuries and the seriously injured provided with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, the patients were transported to Kopanong and Sebokeng Provincial Hospital for further care.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
