Just in: DCT Pier 2 closed after truck accident and alleged rage leaves one dead

Operations have been stopped at Durban Container Terminal Pier 2 after two trucks collided just after the outgate on Langerburg road early on Saturday morning.

Truckers at the scene reported that two trucks sideswapped each other as they were coming out of the port around 04h20.

One of the drivers, reported to be an owner driver, left his truck to confront the other truck driver.

An arguement ensued between the two as they accused each other of causing the accident.

The owner driver is reported to have gone back to his truck.

Just as he opened the door, the other truck driver moved his truck hitting the owner driver and pinned him between the door and his trailer.

Emergency personnel were called in but nothing could be done to save the man.

DCT Pier 2 had to halt operations until the scene has been cleared.

This is a developing story…
