Six people have been killed in a head-on crash involving a sedan and an articulated truck on the N11 road between Loskop dam and Middelburg in Mpumalanga, on Monday night.
Mpumalanga Community Safety spokesperson Moeti Mmusi says all the deceased were occupants of the sedan.
“The six were all occupants of the sedan, and they all perished at the scene. They include a toddler, the driver and all passengers [of the sedan]. The cause of the crash is unclear at this stage. The probe has been instituted,” adds Mmusi
Mmusi says the increasing number of fatalities on the road is alarming.
“We have lost many lives on the road within a short space of time, this can never be accepted.”
“It is therefore important for everyone who uses the road to be an active participant in the fight against lawlessness and road crashes. Government alone cannot win the fight against road carnage. We need everyone to play their part, by always adhering to the rules of the road and by reporting those who disregard the law,” Mmusi saìd.
