Truck Driver Airlifted to Hospital Following Serious Crash on R21

A truck driver have been critically injured after his vehicle collided into the back of a fire truck on the R21 on Saturday morning.

According to Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), the collision occurred before the Pomona off-ramp on R21 westbound.

An articulated truck crashed into a fire engine and a bakkie.

The driver of the truck sustained serious injuries, and has been airlifted to hospital.

“Currently two lanes are open while the scene is being processed,” wrote EMPD on Facebook.

Motorists are advised to approach with caution or even use alternative routes to escape the congestion.
