A horrific crash between Villiers and Wilge toll gate has left eleven people dead while eight survived with injuries. This after a taxi, two light motor vehicles and a heavy motor vehicle were involved in a collision.
The crash happened around 15H40 on Sunday afternoon affecting traffic on both directions.
Netcare 911 responded to the crash scene where they were confronted with dead bodies lying all over the scene and the taxi which split into two pieces on collision.
Tragically eleven people sustained fatal injuries, and approximately another eight people sustained serious injuries.
One of the patients was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

While circumstances leading up to the collision are being investigated by the SAPS who were on scene, a witness who has chosen to remain anonymous, contacted SA Trucker from the scene had this to say.
“I was driving behind the taxi about 140metres away when I saw the taxi loose control and it started rolling. It rolled two or three times before it collided with the tanker truck splitting into two pieces on impact. Some other cars which were travelling alongside the truck were affected as the tanker lost control immediately after impact and collided with them as well. It was scary seeing the people from the taxi dead and some dismembered.”
It was not immediately clear if the truck driver was injured in the accident.
