Garankuwa community members have spoken out about the bus driver, involved in a head-on crash with a truck that killed 15 people on Friday morning, saying he was a reckless and negligent driver whom they had previously reported to his company.
Sello Ramokgadi who usually catches the same bus but did not go to work on Friday due to fears of a national shutdown.
Ramokgadi told eNCA that there have been numerous complaints about the bus driver’s bad driving, but no action was taken.
“We’ve been complaining over and over and over until this happened. I was supposed to be in this bus but didn’t because of the shutdown.”
“I know the people who died. I travel with them every day, Monday to Friday,” he said.
Emergency services said 15 people were killed and 30 others injured in the collision between the bus and truck in Ga-Rankuwa.
“We’ve been complaining about a number of these drivers. including this one.
“Not all of them are problematic. But I won’t lie, this one…”
