Watch: Crane Truck Driver, Two Children Die in Horrific Pinehaven Crash

In yet another horrific accident at the perilous Pinehaven intersection near Krugersdorp, three lives were lost, and three other people critically injured following a devastating collision on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

This fatal mishap occurred once again at the Pinehaven crossing at the R28 / N14 interstion, infamous for horrific crashes.

According to Major General Fred Kekana, the West Rand District Police Commissioner, the driver of a mobile crane was travelling down the R28 road toward the intersection when he lost control and tragically collided with vehicles that were awaiting the green light.

Emer-G-Med released a statement and said their paramedics responded to the scene of the multi vehicle collision just past 16:00 on Thursday afternoon (October 12). The crash happened at the R28 and N14 intersection.

“On arrival at the scene, paramedics were met with absolute carnage as the twisted frames of multiple light and heavy duty vehicles occupied the roadway and embankments.”

“Paramedics worked fervently to stabilise multiple patients who were transported by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further care.”

Sadly, three people lost their lives in the crash including the crane truck driver and two children.

The two deceased were children who were occupants in the taxi while the third deceased was the crane driver.

Kekana added that 20 people were injured in the crash.

One person was also airlifted to hospital by a Netcare 911 aeromedical helicopter.

It is unclear what caused the collision but authorities attended the scene and will bhe investigating further.
