Watch: Scary scenes as petrol tanker explodes and burn in Lusaka

Many people are feared dead or seriously burned following a petrol tanker explosion near Zambeef and Zambia Breweries on Mungwi Road in Lusaka.

A petrol tanker exploded and caught fire sending a massive fireball around the truck on Saturday afternoon.

As of 1:50 PM on Saturday, the tanker was still ablaze, and it is unclear how many casualties have been caused by the incident.

Before the explosion, footage showed individuals attempting to extract leaking fuel from the tanker.

Eyewitness video also depicted some people filling up containers with fuel from the leaking tank.

The fire reportedly spread across the entire road, and a bus that was passing the petrol tanker at the time of the explosion also caught fire.

The cause of the petrol tanker fire is not known at this stage.
