At least twelve people were injured this morning when a patient transport vehicle overturned on the R33 outside New Hanover, KZN Midlands.
Shortly before 6am paramedics from ER24 and other services arrived on the scene where they found the transporter lying next to the road on its side. Twelve patients were found near the vehicle. Nine sustained minor injuries and three sustained moderate injuries. It is understood that several patients were removed by EMRS prior to ER24’s arrival. At this stage it is not known how many people were in the transporter at the time of the crash.
All of the occupants found on the scene were treated and transported to Greytown and Northdale hospitals for further care.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene.
