Dashcam captures stone attackers hit driver leading to crash on R40 in Mpumalanga

A truck driver from Izusa Carriers was seriously injured after being hit by a stone while driving on the R40 at Marite, Mpumalanga on Saturday morning.

In the dashcam footage supplied to SA Trucker, the driver is seen travelling at 60km/h and the time is reading 05h43.

As he continues on his way, two men standing on the left hand side of the road throws stones at the truck. The video does not show clearly if he was hit by the stone but he is knocked out and loses control of the truck.

The attack happens while another truck was approaching from the opposite side making it difficulty for him to notice the attackers in time.

The truck crosses the road and ploughs through road side barriers.

It narrowly misses a standalone toilet at a house nearby before stopping a few metres from the house.

Recently, three trucks were burned in the same vicinity by protesters. It is not known at this stage if the attack was related to the ongoing protests.

SA Trucker could not immediately get information on the condition of the driver.
