Durban – Three people have been killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the N3 in the vicinity of the Tugela Toll Plaza.
Two trucks and two cars collided on the southbound carriageway, that is heading from Johannesburg towards the coast, between the toll gate and Bergville off-ramps.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services’ spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie says three other people have been rushed to hospital.
Meanwhile, the N3 Toll Concession’s Con Roux says traffic heading towards Durban is being diverted via Ladysmith.
“Traffic heading towards the Durban area is being diverted through the Ladysmith area on the R103 to come back onto the N3 at the Bergville interchange,” said Roux.
“As we head into the long weekend, what is of crucial importance is that drivers of light and heavy motor vehicles share the road responsibly together and understand the limitations of their different vehicles.”
Meanwhile two people were killed in a separate taxi crash on the R-600 near Spioenkopin northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Mckenzie says eight other people were hurt and taken to hospital. ECR
