R50 truck and minibus taxi crash leaves seven people dead

Seven people have been killed in a road crash involving a minibus taxi and a side tipper truck on the R50 between Leandra and Standerton in Mpumalanga in the early hours of Monday morning.

Two people including the driver of the truck were seriously injured. The second injured person was passenger in the minibus taxi.

The driver of the minibus taxi is among the deceased and five of the deceased are women.

The injured persons were transported to Evander Hospital.

At the time of the crash, the truck was transporting coal from Standerton to Leandra while the minibus taxi was believed to be transporting passengers from a church meeting in KwaZulu Natal to Devon.
