Durban m4 truck taxi crash

Three people have been killed in a collision involving a minibus taxi, a haulage truck and two other vehicles on the M4 southern freeway in Durban on Tuesday morning.

Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics said the accident occurred shortly after 9h20 on the Durban-bound carriageway just before Victoria Embankment.

“Paramedics arrived on scene to find total carnage as they found multiple vehicles were involved in a collision involving a fully loaded taxi. Multiple casualties were found on the scene.”

Jamieson said more ambulance and rescue services were dispatched to the scene to cater for the large number of casualties.

“It’s believed a truck, a taxi and two to three vehicles had collided, before the taxi had rolled, ejecting most of its occupants,” said Jamieson.

“Approximately 15 people including children, have sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical and are currently being stabilized on scene before being transported to nearby hospitals.”

SAPS attended the crash scene and will be investigating further.
